Master’s thesis to ministry: Fireside chat with alumna Dania Röpke, BMWK

On 6 May 2024, the Centre for Sustainability had the pleasure of hosting Hertie School alumna Dania Röpke (MPP 2009), who was recently appointed Deputy Director General Electricity Generation at the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK).

During a fireside chat event, Röpke spoke with students and alumni on Germany’s major solar package and her views on solar energy policy in Germany, answering some key questions about her work in the BMWK.

Röpke has been working on the energy transition for almost 15 years and has extensive experience in energy policy. She shared with participants that, at the Hertie School, she wrote her master’s thesis on feed-in tariffs and now, in her work at the BMWK, she works on this very topic.

Röpke brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her new position at the BMWK and we are proud to have her as a part of the Hertie Alumni community. Congratulations, Dania, and thank you for sharing your insights with our alumni and students!
