Anaël Labigne releases new book

BTS graduate Dr. Anaël Labigne recently released his new book The Attitudinal Dimension of Civility, where he asks the crucial question: does voluntary engagement actually indicate civil attitudes? His work highlights the relationship between volunteerism and civil society, with a particular focus on France, Germany and the United States.

The book is based on broad ranging survey questions related to law and rights, tolerance, helping and respecting others, and how decisions should be taken. Labigne suggests that civil society should not only be seen as a third sector consisting of associations which are neither state nor market, but also as a specific cultural project in its own right which has a measurable value related dimension.

Labigne is a recent graduate of the Berlin Graduate School of Transnational Studies, a joint endeavour of the Hertie School, the Freie Universität Berlin, and the Social Science Research Center Berlin.
